Jacobsburg State Park

The environmental education programs from the preschool environmental awareness programs at Jacobsburg State Park are a great source of education for the visitors who come here. The historic Jacobsburg State Park offers great relaxation to the visitors. The center office is open 8 a.m to 4 p.m, Monday through Friday. The original land for Jacobsburg State Park was purchased by the Department of Forests and Waters from the City of Easton in 1959. In 1969, additional land was purchased using funds from Project 70. This brought the total land area of the center to its present size of 1,168 acres.

Dedicated as an environmental education center in October 1985, the educative Jacobsburg State Park is one of four environmental education centers operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks. It is also one of the most popular Pennsylvania parks. The aim of the Jacobsburg State Park is to develop a citizenry that is aware of and concerned about the environment and its problems. As a result of a close partnership effort with the Jacobsburg Historical Society, a wide range of exciting heritage programming is offered throughout the year by both center and historical society staff.

The network of trails at Jacobsburg State Park makes the center’s fields, woodlands and streams accessible to both students and the casual visitor. These facilities are for the use of the hikers. Also available at the Jacobsburg State Park is a small picnic area along Belfast Road for use by school groups and the general public. The Bushkill Creek, which is regularly stocked by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, provides excellent trout fishing.

Wildlife watching in Jacobsburg State Park is another great attraction. The portion known as Henry’s Woods is perhaps the most beautiful resource in the Lehigh Valley. You can enjoy a walk along its trail and experience the sight, sounds and coolness of the Bushkill Creeks. The attractions near Jacobsburg State Park is The Jacobsburg Historical Society operates the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum at the Henry Homestead and the Boulton Visitors Center, which are adjacent to Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center.
