The Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania

The Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania is located on the north shore of Pittsburgh. The Warhol is one of the four Carnegie Museums in Pittsburg. The museum was founded in 1994. The museum showcases an extensive collection of art and life of Andy Warhol, one of the most influential artists in America. The Warhol museum is in a constant flux in relation to contemporary art. It is a primary source of information about contemporary art.

The museum is open everyday but check the timing before you visit it. The admission fee is quiet nominal with adults paying $12 and children paying $8. For the members of the Carnegie museums in Pittsburg entry is free. If you pay a group visit of more than 10 people you can take part in the discussions by artists and educators.

The Andy Warhol Museum comprises of 12,000 works of art including paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, films and an archives about the artist’s life. The museum also provides opportunity to the public to research and study the collection.

The museum has the entire bunch of Andy Warhol video collection along with 273 Warhol films.

There are close to 8,000 works on media-printing, drawings, prints and photographs giving us an in-depth view of the artist’s creative life. The museums collection is primarily due to donation made by individual and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

The museum exhibits 500 works at a time which is subjected to regular rotation.

Special exhibitions are conducted regularly at the museum which includes specific area of his work and specific themes.

The archives relates to the artist’s life and the different world in which he was active. The archives forms an integral part of the museum in which you will find his paintings, films, video, scrapbooks from press, over 4000 audios of his conversation with his friends and associates, his books and periodicals, decorative items and some personal items like clothing and silver-white wigs.

The museum has a small library open to all visitors.
